JAMMU, July 28: Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD), Satish Nehru visited Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and reviewed its functioning.
While reviewing the working of sanitation, the Secretary showed displeasure and directed the Health Officer to maintain the high standard of sanitation keeping in view the monsoon season and visit of pilgrims.
Issues regarding the functioning of street lights were also discussed. He instructed the concerned section to initiate exercise to workout the actual number of street lights required within the municipal areas.
The progress regarding flats under construction at Sunjwan and In-situ BSUP cases was discussed, and it was instructed that the work be expedited.
Secretary instructed for inviting application of eligible beneficiaries for allotments of flats, besides developing common facilities at the site so that the infrastructure is put to optimum use.
After the meeting, the Secretary inspected the Manda Store and instructed for optimum use of material lying there. Thereafter, he personally inspected the under construction buildings at various locations and directed the Khilafwarzi section to take action against the violations.
On the direction of the Secretary, the Enforcement Staff demolished two shops at Tali Morh, Old Janipur and also demolished the iron bridge laid over the nallha at Jewel Chowk, Jammu.
Among other accompanying the Secretary were JMC Commissioner Kiran Wattal, Secretary, Health Officer, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Executive Engineers, Chief Enforcement Officers, Enforcement Staff and others.
