Secretary Culture inaugurates painting exhibition

JAMMU, Apr 30: A three day painting exhibition was inaugurated here today by Suresh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary Culture and Tribal Affair at Kala Kendra.
Organized by Kala Kendra Society, Jammu, the exhibition showcases 60 paintings by five different artists—Arnavi Sharma, Shruti Sharma, Insha Sharma, Pariyanka Choudhary and Reetika Rani—all from the Painting Department of Institute of Music and Fine Arts.
Dr. Javaid Rahi, Secretary Kala Kendra Society stated that objective of the event was to provide a platform for emerging artists to showcase their works in professional galleries.
Principal Secretary, Suresh Kumar Gupta underscored the government’s commitment to boost cultural institutions, applauding the relentless efforts of Kala Kendra Society.
He revealed plans to develop the first floor of Kala Kendra on the lines of a National Art Gallery and create avenues for artists to showcase and sell their art works in national and international markets.
Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, Principal Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu announced an upcoming collaboration between IMFA and Kala Kendra for J&K Art Fest.
Secretary J&K Cultural Academy, Sanjeev Gupta also spoke on the occasion.
Mohinder Singh Boani, Dean of ITM Gwalior and special guest at the event, provided insights into the exhibited works in terms of Modern Art, enriching the discourse on contemporary artistic expression.
A catalog of modern art paintings, prepared by Milan Sharma, Head of the Painting Department at IMFA, was ceremonially released by Principal Secretary, Suresh Kumar Gupta.
Several prominent personalities including Manoj Chopra, Young S. Verman, Sanjay Kumar, Ankush Kesar, Ruchita Dutta, Simran Dogra and Parveen Kumar were also present on the occasion.
