Searches at Hanjin

Srinagar Dec 10: Security forces today cordoned off Hanjin village of Kralgund Handwara in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
A joint team of Army’s 30 RR and Special Operation Group (SOG) of police cordoned off Hanjin village following intelligence inputs about the presence of militants.
Security forces also launched combing operation amid some warning shots in the forest area close to the Hanjin village. The area continued to be under cordon.
Security forces conducted searches in the village several times during last 10 days. Police arrested two OGWs along with arms and ammunition and busted a militant hideout in the area during these operations.
Security forces conducted searches in Barthipora village of Shopian district after last night’s brief encounter during an ambush laid by Army.
Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), 14 Battalion of CRPF and Shopian Police conducted searches in Barthipora village of Shopian district after they found blood trails leading towards the village. The operation continued till 2 p.m and was called off after no militants were found in the village.
The militant was injured in the encounter that took place after Army laid ambush near Barthipora village last night.  Sources said that security forces had information about movement of three militants and had laid the ambush.
Security forces laid ambushes at various places on the roads leading towards Pulwama and Anantnag from Shopian as they had information that the militant could be shifted to some hospital for treatment.
