SDM Chowki Choura takes out drive against over-loading of passenger vehicles

JAMMU, Nov 18: Taking a serious view of a fatal accident recently having taken place in Chowki Choura, Sub Divisional Magistrate Virender Gupta accompanied by his Revenue team today laid ‘Nakas’ at various points of Chowki Choura.
During visit to the area, the frequently travelling commuters were sensitized and were appealed to wait for next passenger vehicle rather than climbing over the already over-loaded vehicles, to avoid another mis-happening in this hilly terrain. He warned the drivers that their vehicles if found over-loaded, will be immediately seized.
The drivers of the Passenger Autos (plying in Chowki Choura) were ordered to remove their iron-angle carries to avoid over-loading and simultaneously to mitigate the load of passengers, a 42-Seater Bus was arranged by the Administration with an active association of president of Shopkeepers’ Union, Chowki Choura to ferry passengers, particularly school-going children of Kanehari, Ghaar and Majoor Panchayats.
The SDM directed the Executive Magistrate as well as concerned Incharge Police Post to take stringent action against the violators. At a Naka near Police Post Chowki Choura laid by the SDM in association with his Revenue Team as well as concerned Police Personnel, the over-loaded vehicles and private vehicles, having been found violating the traffic norms were challaned and a fine of Rs 3300 was realized on the spot.
Later, the SDM reviews the progress of on-going construction of Chowki Choura-Bhambla Tunnel in Rameen-Makhiyan Viillage of Kanehari Panchayat. He also paid a surprise visit to 24×7 Accidental Hospital, Chowki Choura and took stock of the functioning of the Hospital.
