JAMMU, Nov 20: In order to address valid concerns of the locals, Virender Gupta, Sub District Magistrate (SDM) Chowki Choura, held a Public Darbar at Balsaro Village here today.
Dr. Raman Jandyal Tehsildar and Pankaj Katoch, Incharge of the Police Post in Chowki Choura including a team of Revenue department accompanied him. The issue of mining in Block No.21 was brought up by various people, including the Sarpanch Baldev Sharma, PRI Members, and other stakeholders.
After hearing their complaint, it was discovered that the Lift Irrigation Scheme in Saro Village, which is situated next to the recently established Mining Block, had stopped working, causing the residents of Miyari, Bal, and Saro Villages to suffer greatly due to a lack of access to drinking water.
SDM wasted no time in contacting Shafiq Ahmed, the District Mineral Officer, as well as Naresh Sharma, Tehsildar Reasi, in order to obtain an accurate understanding of the situation on the ground.
The residents raised another pressing concern about the absence of a connecting road between Bal Village and Saro Village resulting in school children being forced to traverse through a stream on foot. The BDO Chowki Choura was instructed to promptly begin building a connecting road as part of the MGNREGA program. The SDM sensitized the villagers to opt for the various self-employment schemes under NRLM so that the women-folk at home could become self-dependent and self-empowered.
