JAMMU, July 16: A vehicle carrying dead body of Shri Amarnathji pilgrim from Pahalgam to Chandigarh fell into a nallah from a bridge on Mansar-Samba road this morning causing injuries to three persons while two persons were killed while at least twelve others injured in three separate incidents today.
A police spokesman said a Shri Amarnathji pilgrim R P Thakur hailing from Jheerpur near Chandigarh died while moving to cave shrine. His dead body was being shifted to Chandigarh in a Scorpio vehicle JK09/3404. When it reached at Shah Balod bridge near Samba on Mansar road, the driver lost control over the speeding vehicle and it landed into nallah.
All the three persons traveling with the dead body including driver were injured in the accident. The locals rushed to the spot and removed the injured to District hospital Samba. They were identified as driver Mohd Altaf of Srinagar and Tilak Raj and Satish Sharma hailing from Chandigarh. The deadbody was shifted to another vehicle and then dispatched to Chandigarh this afternoon.
Meanwhile, a middle aged villager was crushed to death under a truck in Mandi area of Poonch today. The mishap took place when 40-year-old mentally unsound Mohd Tariq, son of Ghulam Hussain was moving along the road. A truck bearing registration No. JK02A/3618 crushed him to death under the wheels.
The police arrested the truck driver Mandeep Khajuria, hailing from Rajouri and seized vehicle. The dead body after completion of legal formalities was handed over to the family.
In yet another accident at Vijaypur on Jammu-Pathankote National Highway in district Samba today, one Sheela Devi, wife of Late Ram Dass of Baguna village was killed. The mishap took place when the village woman was crossing the road. She was hit by a Tata Sumo No. JK02AR/9979. With serious injuries she was rushed to GMC hospital Jammu from Vijaypur where she died. The police arrested the driver and seized vehicle.
At least 12 person were injured when a bus bearing registration No. 2225/JK02F on way to Pir Bhadesar from Rajouri this afternoon developed some mechanical snag and over-turned on the road near Gharati village. Six injured were removed to Rajouri hospital while others got treatment at the local health center. The condition of all the injured was said to be stable.
