JAMMU, July 16: Defeating the formidable team of Diamond Cricket Club easily by 6 wickets in the summit clash, Sree Cricket Club lifted the title trophy in the Baisakhi Premier League (BPL) T20 Cricket Cup at Government High School ground, Simbal Camp, here today.
Avtar Singh Khalsa, Senior PDP leader was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams.
Earlier, batting first, host Diamond Cricket Club scored a modest total of 138 runs in the stipulated 20 overs by losing 3 wickets. Narinder was the top scorer with 47 runs, while Chamkor Singh contributed 38 runs to the total. Rajan (23) and Shonku (22) were the other major contributors. For Sree Club, Amit, Bikram Singh and Ashoka shared one wicket apiece.
Sree Club, in reply scored the required runs easily in 19.2 overs, by losing 4 wickets, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Sanju played a magnificent innings of 46 runs in 28 balls, while Bikram and Meetu contributed 21 and 16 runs to the total respectively. For Diamond Club, Guddev, Parmeet, Ajit Pal, Narinder and Mahadeep claimed one wicket each. Sanju of Sree Club was adjudged man of the match for which he received a cash prize of Rs 1100, along with a bat and a memento, while Gurdev Singh of Diamond Club was declared man of the series to receive a cash prize of Rs 2100 alongwith a bat and momento. The winners were presented a cash prize of Rs 25000, while the runners-up team received a cash prize of Rs 12500 from the chief guest.
The match was officiated by Kulvir Singh Kali, Vaid Gupta and Sabi, while Gurmeet Singh Micheal performed the duty of commentator.
Sunil Sports Industries and Barun Sports Industries donated bats to the organizers for distribution among the cricketers.
