SRINAGAR, Mar 16: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference president and Member of Parliament, Dr Farooq Abdullah today asked people to follow concerned health advisories following the unprecedented situation in face of novel corona virus sprawling across the globe.
Scores of delegations from across Kashmir called on party president Dr Farooq Abdullah at his residence to greet him on his release. The delegations comprising of workers, party functionaries, delegates and civil society groups who called on party president had come from Shopian, Langate, Zadibal, Hazratbal, Pulwama, Charar- e- Sharief, Chadooora, Kokarnag, Baramulla, Anantnag, Shangus, Qazigund constituencies.
Addressing the visiting delegation that had thronged his residence party president said the situation is unprecedented and needs unprecedented efforts to cope with. “We see how the pandemic has devoured many lives across the world. The Governments around the world are struggling to tone down the sprawl. The efforts in tackling the pandemic should be multifarious that should include proper medical supervision and prompt testing. People should not let fear overwhelm them, rather the situation should respond to the crisis from a genuine Islamic and scientific perspective,” Farooq said, adding, “ there are various prophetic supplications and remedies which if adhered to will help us salvage ourselves from the pandemic.”
Expressing gratitude to the visiting delegation party president said that he is appreciative of the love and affection he has received from people. “I express my gratitude to all who prayed for me. I am overwhelmed with the support we have received from the people. The enthusiasm of workers and delegates is indeed elevating,” he said.
Among others who were present on the occasion include Javaid Dar, Dr Sajad Uri, Shabir Kullay, Reyaz Khan, Mushtaq Guroo, GN Tailbali, Younis Mubarak Gul, Shabir Mir, Zafar Mir Lasjan and Parvaiz Wani.
Meanwhile party’s additional general secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal visited Tangmarg, where he met scores of workers , party functionaries.
The National Conference leadership also demanded release of senior party leader and former legislator, Shameema Firdous who is also under detention since long besides other party leaders.
