KATHUA, Dec 29: Eighth Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting of KVK, Kathua was organized at the KVK premises under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu, Dr Pradeep Kumar Sharma along with Director Extension, Dr K S Risam.
The programme was attended by Dr Daleep Kachroo, Head Division of Agronomy, Dr M P Gupta, Professor, Division of Soil Science, Dr Sandeep Chopra, Associate Professor Division of Vegetable Sciences and Horticulture, SKUAST-Jammu, Ajay Sharma and Dr Vivak M Arya, Scientist Soil Science.
During the meeting, Programme Coordinator KVK Kathua, Dr Amrish Vaid, presented the detailed account of the action taken report towards the suggestions and directions received during the seventh SAC which was followed by the report towards various activities.
Thereafter, the action plan for the fiscal year 2016-17 was proposed before the house for discussion and approval. After the departments put forth various field problems requiring immediate attention by the KVK, Kathua Dr Vaid assured to incorporate all the points in the Action plan.
The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the KVK team for their efforts and the success achieved by them through various interventions at the farmers field. He also advised the team to work diligently in the same direction.
Dr K S Risam also appreciated the work of KVK Kathua in achieving the mandated targets and their closed liaison with agriculture and allied departments.
During the discusion District Sheep Husbandry Officer Kathua Dr S K Sharma asked KVK Scientists to include Training programme on small ruminants like Sheep and Goat in the Action Plan.
The meeting was also attended by various district heads including Bipan Sambyal, Joint Director & CAO, Kathua; Tarvinder Singh, Chief Horticulture Officer; Aman Kalsotra, DDM, NABARD; J P Singh, Lead Bank Officer; Indu Jamwal, District information Officer, Kathua; Assistant Executive Engineer Irrigation Department and progressive farmers Onkar Singh, Hardesh Kumar and Ram Krishan Saini.
The proceedings of the meeting were conducted by Dr Anamika Jamwal. Vice Chancellor along with Director and Scientists also visited the Instructional farm of the KVK.
