But the hapless children of a school in Balakote are unfortunate enough who are forced to study under the shadow of Pak guns.
Government Primary School, Handi Masjid in Sandote village of Balakote tehsil in Mendhar Sub division of Poonch is in a sorry state. The school children have to risk their lives to reach the school during the Pakistani shelling. The school building is in dilapidated condition. This school is located closer to the Line of Control and Pakistani troops continue to fire on the civilian areas. It is not when there is shelling, in this room of the school, children stay for hours to save their lives. The Army also feel helpless some times to shift these children to safer zones amidst firing.
Numberdar Karam Dad Khan alleged that there is no facility in the school for children, because school is located near LoC in Balakote. The Indian Army came to help many times. They provided desks for the children. A room was being built with in the school premises, the construction work of which was given to a school teacher, but it remained unfinished. They study under the shadow of fire. The Govt must shift the location of the school for the safety of our children, the Numberdar said.
When contacted to SDM Mendhar, Dr Sahil Jandyal said that he will take up the matter with concerned officials for redressal of the problem.
