JAMMU, Jan 28: The Deputy Labour Commissioner, Jammu today organized an awareness camp on labour laws at Durga Bhawan, Katra in Reasi.
Kanta Devi, Deputy Labour Commissioner Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion whereas Pradyot Gupta, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Reasi was the guest of honour.
The awareness camp was inaugurated by Deputy Labour Commissioner Jammu in the presence of R.K Raina, A.D Employment, Jipsy Badyal, member Child Welfare Committee Reasi, Monika, Coordinator Childline Reasi, Advocate M.S Mir, ex- Bar president Reasi, Arun Sharma, general secretary Press Club Katra and Jugal Kishore, President Mazdoor Dastkar Union,Katra.
A large number of workers from un-organized sector participated in the camp. Kanta Devi distributed registration cards under Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana (PMSYM) and Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (BOCWWB) Scheme. An amount of Rs 1,55,500.00 was also disbursed among registered construction workers under the component Education assistance.
On-spot registrations were made under Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board’s Scheme. Workers were also given credit cards under “Muhafiz” Scheme. One award under Employees Compensation Act, 1923 worth Rs 6.00 lakh and other award worth if Rs 4.50 lakh under Payment of Wages Act,1936 were also announced on the occasion.
Assistant Labour commissioner Reasi Pradyot Gupta in his address apprised the gathering about different welfare schemes of the labour department including Pradham Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana and Building and other Construction Workers welfare Board Schemes.
