Sir,
Refer news item ’10 school buses challaned’ DE Feb 12.
One wonders why the concerned authorities wake to problems only after some untoward incident takes place. If traffic police acted against 10 school buses, it was only after the unfortunate death of a 6th grade student in DPS premises. It is incumbent upon the traffic police to see whether school buses ferrying students even from far flung areas fulfill all formalities. Had the authorities done it earlier, today they would not have gone for challans.
There are clear cut Supreme Court rulings regarding school buses. But it seems that no one is bothered about them. One can see children cramped in autos with no one in the administration asking the school owners to put an end to this inhuman practice. Parents too are responsible for such a situation as they do not take up this matter with the school authorities or the driver.
The Traffic Department is requested to take stern action against those found violating rules lest any untoward incidents occurs again.
Yours etc….
