SCCU launches ‘Warm Clothing Distribution’ programme

UDHAMPUR, Jan 7: To provide relief to the needy segment of society in ongoing winters, Senior Citizens’ Club Udhampur (SCCU) inaugurated its free ‘Warm Clothing Distribution’ programme today and distributed warm clothes among 150 needy persons at Sailan Talab Chowk.
The clothes were donated by the members of SCCU.
On this occasion, Club president, Mahadeep Singh Jamwal said many people have craze for trendy wearing and they use the wearing as per their liking than their needs.
“This way huge unused clothing stock piles up at their homes. To get rid of this stocking sometime these clothes are purchased by street vendors in exchange with plastic tubs or buckets and then in return such clothes are sold by these vendors to the needy people at exorbitant rate,” he claimed.
Jamwal also said that the Club will regularly carry such distribution programmes in different area.
A handout of the Club stated that SCCU has created a bank for collection of such clothes and appealed society to deposit all sort of clothes especially warm clothes in SCCU clothing bank at ‘Shiv Nagar’ Udhampur so that these clothes can reach the needy people.
Others from Club present on the occasion were S.K Gandotra, Doctor Uma Kant Sharma, Advisor of the Club, Kuldeep Kumar, Publicity-Secretary and Club Treasurer, Mohan Singh.
