Under scaling of ration will not be tolerated: Zulfkar

SRINAGAR, June 28:  Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution Chowdhary  Zulfkar Ali has said that under scaling of food grains or sugar will not be tolerated at any cost and the Department will initiate stern action against this practice.
While chairing meeting of all Assistant Directors of Kashmir, the Minister said that there will be zero tolerance on under scaling. He said that he want 100 percent transparency in the department and if anybody will be found involved in under scaling practice, he will be dealt with iron hands. “We will initiate action against the Assistant Director of the particular district if there will be any violation of standard scale of foodgrains and sugar”, he warned.
Pressing for bringing total transparency in the Department, Minister instructed all Assistant Directors to install Electronic Weighing Machines on all sale centres replacing traditional weighing practice. He said that the Department should move ahead using technological tools in order to bring improvement in the department. He also instructed the officers to get Suggestion Boxes installed on all sale centres of Kashmir Valley in time bound manner.
The Minister also instructed officers to install Display Boards on each sale centres displaying rates, scale, and category wise ration and telephone numbers. He said that he want an efficiency in the Department and officers must contribute and play their role in it.
Instructing officers to get themselves fully prepared for launch of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Food Entitlement Scheme, Zulfkar said that this scheme will supplement NFSA from July 1 and his department is preparing for it. He said that the main objective of the scheme is to protect and promote economic and social well being of citizens of the State by augmenting the quota of foodgrains by additional 5 KG per soul subject to a maximum of 35 Kg per family. He said there is no ceiling in NFSA and members of family with 10 souls will get 50 kg as per NFSA. He said that the confusion of ceiling should be cleared among the public.
The Minister said that the ration will be procured from FCI and trucks carrying this will be fitted with GPRS tracking system so that their movement is monitored at various levels. He added that the implementation of the scheme will be overseen by senior officers of the Department and at various levels so as to make the scheme a grand success. He sought help of all in successful launch and implementation of the Scheme.
Secretary CAPD Shafiq Raina and Director CAPD Kashmir Peerzada Mushtaq Shah were also present in the meeting.
