SBI opens its branch in Diskit Nobra

LEH, Sept 14: During his second day tour of Ladakh, State Bank of India Chairman Rajnish Kumar inaugurated SBI branch in Diskit Nobra in presence of Lt Gen Y K Joshi, GOC Fire & Fury Corps.
This is the 14th SBI branch in Leh. Area Councillor Tsering Angchuk, SDM Nobra Sonam Norboo, SBI Chief General Manager Chandigarh Circle Rana Ashutosh Kumar Singh, senior officers from SBI and Army and large number of public including ex-servicemen were present during the inaugural function.
With the opening of SBI Branch in Diskit Nobra, the residents of Nobra region can now avail all kind of banking services in their hometown without any hassle of travelling miles to avail banking facilities. Army personnel deployed in the area including those up to Siachen Base Camp will benefit from opening of this branch.
During his visit to Leh, SBI Chairman Rajnish Kumar also donated Cardiac & Critical Care Ambulance to the Army establishment headquarters at 14 Corps in Leh that accommodates more than 10000 Army personnel.
SBI is operating in Jammu & Kashmir since 1923 when Srinagar Branch was established. Currently SBI has 184 Branches in J&K and Ladakh with 100 in Jammu, 70 in Kashmir and 14 in Ladakh. The bank is running Branches in the most difficult areas of the State in terms of climatic situations such as Tangsay (situated at the highest altitude) and Drass in the Kargil district which is the second coldest inhabited place on earth.
On the occasion, Rajnish Kumar said, “India has witnessed profound changes in its financial inclusion ecosystem. We at SBI will always be committed to spread our wings to touch the lives of people residing at the remotest places of the country. It is a proud moment for SBI to launch a branch for the residents of Diskit who can now get access to all their banking needs without any stress of travelling to far-off places. We will continue empowering citizens of every nook and corner possible by helping them become financially confident and independent”
Area Councillor Tsering Angchuk expressed his gratitude to the Chairman for opening the branch in Nobra.
SBI has the largest network of 22,088 branches in India and an ATM/CDM network of over 58,495.
