Savrang presents ‘Sandhya Chhaya’ during National Theatre Festival

REASI, Sept 4: Hindi play ‘Sandhya Chhaya’ was staged on third day of the ongoing National Theatre Festival, being organised by Sangam Theatre Group Reasi and supported by Ministry of Culture Govt of India.
The play, directed by Rajesh Ajanabi, was presented by Savrang Kala Sangam Reasi. ‘Sandhya Chhaya’ tells about the plight, loneliness and left-alone emotions of an elderly couple.
On the occasion, Jugal Kishore Sharma, former Minister J&K State, was the chief guest while Renu Kumari, Programme Officer ICDS Jammu was the guest of honour.
‘Sandhya Chhaya’ is a well renowned play, written by eminent Marathi playwright Jaywant Dalvi. It deals with the problems of old people. In the modern concept of family life, the bonds of relations with each other are getting weaker and weaker. Family members are drifting away from each other for materialistic and financial gains.
The play showcases an old couple Nnana and Nnani, who are very vulnerable and loveable. Inspite of having being deprived of love from their children, they still have the courage to fight the melancholy and pathos of their lives. They support and love each other and as the play unfolds, the audience also falls in love with them.
Older people who are not so useful in today’s materialistic age bear the brunt of the changing values. They get lonelier and lonelier. This play is entertaining and simultaneously it tells audience about old age and loneliness.
The climax is tragic and disheartening as the couple commits suicide. Music was used with perfection. The play was staged beautifully leaving the audience spellbound. The play was highly liked by the audience.
The artist who acted in the play, were Rajesh Ajnabi as Nana, Meenu Sharma as Nani, Nirdosh Sharma as Shyam, Drishti Gupta as Sharmila, Neeraj Kesar as Dinu, Naresh Kumar as Dada, Rashad Khan as Nandu, Vishal Pandoh as Mamdhu, Light by Shesh Kumar, Music by Madhu Sharma, Make-up by Megha Ajnabi, Set Design- Krishan Lal and Sanjay Dogra, Palvinder Singh, Publicity Agastya.
Among those who witnessed the play include Raj Rahi, Shadab Khan, Nitika Suri, Bodh Raj, Akram Khan, Pankaj Anand and others.
