Sir,
This has reference to the Sunday Magazine article ‘Saving PangongTso’ by Stanzin Kunzang Angmo DE Aug 30.
Like Dal Lake, Wullar Lake, in Srinagar, Mansar Lake, Surinsar lake in Jammu this world famous lake will come under pollution threat if timely steps are not taken to save it. God has betowed mankind with natural bounties for man to relish and enjoy, but while doing so, the man is bent on tempering with these bounties.
As pointed out by the author, the tourists are to a great extent responsible for generating garbage in and around these spots. They least care for proper disposal of garbage after they are finished with their holidaying.
Besides polluty water by washing vehicles in its water is a cause of concern for environmentalists. Unless tourist themselves maintain sanctity of these virgin places, it is difficult to save these water bodies of world fame.
Yours etc….
Harish Chander
