Service Tax on pilgrims

Sir,
The State Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu has defended himself on levying Service Tax on Chopper service to the pilgrims visiting to Mata Vaishno Devi with that of tourist places in the State. In order to encourage people visiting some revered Shrines in Kashmir valley too such Service Tax should not be made applicable as it increases the cost thereof. It is not a matter of dismay or provocation by political parties but one must understand the rationale of visiting the religious places may be by any community. I personally feel that even the fare by any mode should have some control by your Government and should be subsidised like that given to Haj pilgrims. The levy of Service Tax for visit to religious places is not going to be big gain for the State.
Yours etc…
