Save Girl Child Week concludes at Sarwal hospital

JAMMU, Dec 29 : ‘Save The Girl Child Week’ for generating awareness among the masses on the issue of female feticide, concluded today at Government Hospital Sarwal Jammu.
During the week, activities like seminars, symposiums and poster making were conducted. With the help of nursing students, a mass awareness campaign was also launched for the patients and public visiting the hospital. Students from various institutes were sensitized about the importance of girl child and declining sex ratio.
Students from nursing institutions especially Jammu College of Nursing and Para Medical Sciences Channi Himmat Jammu participated in the week long programmes.
On the last day the students took pledge to perform activities and live life as medical professionals by protecting girl child not only in relation to sex selection but throughout in whatever way the females are discriminated and harassed. They vowed to fight always for rights of girls and women.
Dr Arun Sharma Medical Superintendent Govt Hospital Sarwal Jammu addressed the students and highlighted the importance of girl child who is mother of tomorrow. He also congratulated all the participants in organizing the week long programmes.
