Saurabh reviews setting up of Regional Science Centres at Jammu, Srinagar

NEW DELHI, Feb 9: Commissioner Secretary, Science and Technology, Saurabh Bhagat, today convened a high level meeting at National Science Centre, a Unit of National Council for Science Museums (NCSM) Union Ministry of Culture, regarding setting up of Regional Science Centres at Jammu and Srinagar.
The meeting was attended by Dr.N.Ramdas Iyer, Director, Dr. Vijay Shanker, Consultant, Dr. Rakesh Mohan Singh, Senior Technical Officer, National Science Centre, Sanjay Kharoo, Joint Director, JKST&IC and other officers of the centre.
The meeting deliberated upon various issues especially with regard to themes to be established in the Srinagar Centre.
Saurabh Bhagat, emphasized inclusion of themes in the Srinagar Centre which would highlight the importance of Kashmir valley.
He discussed identification of land for Jammu centre and assured NCSM that land measuring 100 kanal has recently been identified at Chowadi, Jammu and more sites would be identified in due course of time.
Regarding construction of Science Centre, Commissioner Secretary revealed that the work shall start by end of the March, 2023. However, the land Development and other modalities have been completed by Science and Technology Department J&K.
During the meeting, an MoA was also signed between Department of Science and Technology J&K Government and NCSM.
