JAMMU, Aug 30: With a mission to give benefits of Centrally sponsored schemes to needy families at grass root level, former Minister and MLA Jammu West, Sat Sharma (CA) distributed 50 LPG connections under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana to women belonging to BPL families at a program held at Shanti Nagar area.
Women beneficiaries from two wards including Ward 33 and 39 availed the benefits of the scheme and complimented their local MLA for providing them free gas connections. A large number of people including owner of Gas Agency, social and political activists were also present on the occasion.
In his address, Sat Sharma said that, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) has proved itself as a boon for women power across the country and crores of families have availed its benefits which has overcome the situation created due to cooking of food by women on ‘Chulhas’ which was also a health hazard for them as smoke from woods was inhaled in that process which was not a healthy thing and many women went through various respiratory diseases.
He said keeping in view the problems faced by women, the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi without using the Government money appealed the masses to surrender their subsidies who could afford to give up and he further utilized that money for increasing the life style of the needy women and it’s the result of the same that today more than nine crore families have availed the benefits of Ujjwala Yojana across India.
He also appealed to the masses that still if there is someone who has not availed the benefits of PMUY must avail the same so that the vision of the Prime Minister can be strengthened and more benefits can be provided to the masses at grass root level.
The program was organized by Kuldev Singh Kotwal, proprietor of Asha Gas Agency and Virendra Jeet Thakur Additional publicity secretary, BJYM.
District president BJP, Ayodhya Gupta, State vice president, BJYM Karan Sharma, Arjun Singh Kamlesh Kumari, Arvind Sharma, Jai Singh Chib, Prem Nath Sharma, Arjun Singh Jawmal and several others were also present when MLA distributed free LPG connections to women.
