Tehsildar justifies action

SAMBA, Feb 21: Pangdaur Sarpanch, Reena Chaudhary today criticized the administration for placing the Gram Sevak of Panchayat Pangdaur under suspension on flimsy grounds.
Talking to reporters here, today the Sarpanch said that the Tehsildar Samba who got suspension orders issued against Village Level Worker for his alleged involvement in politics said the Gram Sevak was not involved in politics.
Reena Chaudhary said that yesterday she had gone to tehsil office Samba to meet concerned Tehsildar and the Gram Sevak had also visited there whom she requested to keep his point before the Tehsildar regarding construction of the drain. The Tehsildar objected it saying that he can’t do the same being a Government employee.
Chaudhary said that in her village Raipar Camp, a drain has been encroached upon and she had also got the Tehsildar, DC and Divisional Commissioner to investigate and remove the encroachment but no action was taken. Complaint was lodged, but when it was sought from the top, the officers on district level submitted their reports which did not match the facts.
She said that she has protested against the Tehsildar many times because some work of the people of her area was not being done. She alleged that the Tehsildar has on personnel grounds taken action against the Gram Sevak which is illegal.
However, when contacted Tehsildar Samba Avtar Singh Jasrotia termed the allegation of Sarpanch totally baseless. He said that Sarpanch along with a delegation had come to his office yesterday and she wanted the construction of drain in the village before the end of financial year. “I told her that issue will be taken with DC Samba and some way out will be found to construct the drain in the area before the end of the financial year”.
`However one person got up saying that the Revenue Department is delaying the works and they don’t bother to reply the letters of RDD. I asked him on whose behalf he was talking and who he was? The person disclosed that he is secretary Panchayat which means that he is a Government employee”.
“I objected his way of talking and asked whether he had sought the permission of visiting tehsil office from his BDO., He replied in negative and continued arguments”, Tehsildar added.
He said “I took serious exception of his behavior being a Government employee and told him does he know service rules. So I took up the issue with DC, Rohit Khajuria who after verification from ADC placed the official under suspension”, he added.
