Saroori alleges shortage of ration in Kishtwar, Doda

JAMMU, May 23: Former Minister and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohd Saroori has alleged severe shortage of ration including sugar in Doda and Kishtwar areas.
Mr Saroori, who met the Minister in-charge CAPD, Ch Ramzan in Srinagar disclosed that many Government ration depots have turned defunct in Kishtwar and Doda area as there was shortage of ration. Not only atta and rice but sugar has also not been provided to the consumers. In many areas of his Inderwal constituency even the backlog of March and April is still pending.
The Congress MLA further alleged that during his recent visit to Chhatroo, Chingam, Sigdi, Bhatyas, Jakyas, Durbeel, Drabshalla, Bunjwan, Sarthal, Saroor, Keshwan, Thakrai, Thathri, Gandoh, Kahra and some other areas of Doda and Kishtwar, the people projected the issue of ration shortage. The public also alleged non-availability of sugar.
He demanded early disbursement of 35 kg sanctioned quota of food grains to each family besides 700 gms sugar quota per person.
Mr Saroori also demanded enactment of Food Security Act in the State to provide ration to the poor consumers at par with rest of the country. He also demanded tenure of ration card from 2 to 5 years from current year. The minister gave patient hearing and issued instructions to the Director CAPD Jammu to affectively monitor the distribution mechanism in the hilly areas and ensure that due quota of ration reaches to the people in time.
