Sanitation at SMGS goes mechanised, Taj inaugurates facility

JAMMU, Mar 29: The manual cleaning of wards, corridors and rooms at SMGS Hospital and GMC Jammu today got replaced by a sophisticated mechanised cleaning with the induction of machines imported from Italy.
Minister for Medical Education, Youth Service and Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din inaugurated the mechanised cleaning which has a speed of cleaning about 20,000 square feet per hour and it is expected to clean the entire hospital within few hours. The mechanised cleaning would not only enhance the level of sanitation at the hospital but also bring it to the stage of nationally acclaimed hospitals.
It may be recalled that the Minister, on his maiden visit to the hospital, had directed installing mechanised system of sanitation at the hospital. With today’s induction of mechanised cleaning, GMC Jammu has become the first hospital to have mechanised sanitation in the State.
The Minister also inaugurated the renovated ward of Department of Medicine at the hospital and refurbished emergency ward at the hospital. These wards have been upgraded keeping in view the hospital requirements in vogue.
Later, Taj had a meeting of officers and HoDs and Faculty Members in which Commissioner Secretary, Health and Medical Education, M.K. Dwivedi and Principal GMC, Jammu Dr. Anece Choudhary were present.
In the meeting, the Minister reviewed operationlization of upcoming Super Speciality Hospital Jammu and pace of progress on computerization and other technological upgradation at GMC Jammu.
The Minister directed that every ward should have its own drug sub store. He also directed ensuring availability of life saving drugs at the Emergency unit for which he directed setting up of a chest with the CMO.
