KATHUA, Aug 28: Reiterating their old demand, the people from tehsil Dinga Amb, falling under Billawar constituency have urged upon the Governor’s Administration to sanction new Govt Degree College for Tehsil headquarters Dinga Amb without any more delay.
In a meeting of the members of the Degree College Action Committee held under the leadership of Kuldip Gupta, former Sarpanch, the members from various Panchayat Halqas of the area strongly pleaded for sanctioning of a Govt Degree College at Dinga Amb. They pointed out that Dinga Amb is one of the most old High Schools in district Kathua, set up in 1964. The area has good number of feeding Higher Secondary Schools.
The children of the area have to go to Kathua or Hiranagar college after covering long distance. In Hiranagar College, there are a very few subjects and the students have to move to Kathua or Jammu for having their choicest subjects. They said it is old demand of the people of this Kandi belt and needed to be fulfilled.
Due to domination of Billawar area, this Kandi belt of Dinga Amb, Mangloor, Saida, Koungni, Katli, Kouli, Dabi, Balote, Garh, Pranjali, Pucca Kotha, Sallan etc remained neglected for decades. Now since, the Government is contemplating to go for Delimitation exercise, a separate Dinga Amb Kandi constituency be created for ensuring better development and remove age old discrimination with this belt, they maintained.
Prominent among those who attended meeting included Seema Gupta (Sarpanch-Dinga Amb), Ravi Abrol, Rakesh Purohit (Panchayat members), Kalidass, Surinder Kumar, Pardeep Kumar, Kuldip Abrol and others.
