SAMBA, May 6: A notorious criminal Sanjeev Kumar alias Deepu, son of Mulkh Raj of Ward No 3 Bari Brahmana was today arrested under Public Safety Act (PSA) by Samba Police while his accomplice Vipan Kumar Gupta alias Johny S/o Sat Paul Gupta of Ward No 6 Bari Brahmana on whom PSA has also been slapped is still at large.
According to police, Deputy Commissioner, Samba, R K Varma in his capacity as District Magistrate slapped PSA on the duo to prevent them from indulging in prejudicial criminal activities. The PSA was slapped on them after the compilation of records from various police stations of the district as well as other districts and preparation of the dossiers by Samba police against them.
Sanjeev Kumar was put in district jail Samba. To nab the absconding criminal SSP Samba, Anil Magotra has constituted a special team and police launched a manhunt.
SSP Samba said that the duo is notorious criminals, drug peddlers as well as facilitators of bovine smuggling. They are involved in number of criminal cases, he added.
He said they not only create law and order problems but were a threat to peace and tranquility in the area as they were involved in formation of a gang of criminals, expanding it to persuade the youth having criminal tendencies to join it to spread their activities.
To put an end to their activities the Samba Police slapped PSA on them, the SSP said.
