Samba police rescues 11 bovines, arrests smuggler

JAMMU, Apr 21: In its continuous drive against the illegal trafficking of bovine animals, a police team headed by Inspector Ravinder Singh, SHO P/S Samba under the supervision of  Anil Magotra, SP Samba and Vijay Pal Singh, DySP HQ Samba seized a truck carrying 11 bovine animals and arrested the bovine smuggler Sawar Ali S/o Mohd Din R/o Ragura, Jammu.
According to police, the truck bearing Registration No. JK02AK-2469 was coming from Kathua in the morning and when it was signaled to stop by the naka party at Samba Chowk, it ignored the signal and crossed the Naka forcibly. Immediately, the next Joint Naka of District Samba /Traffic Police already present at Mansar Morh was informed about the movement of the truck and when the over speedy truck tried to take turn towards Mansar, it lost its balance broke the divider of the road and rolled down due to which the driver of the truck got injured along with 5 bovine animals.
After the incident, the locals of the area lodged protest against the menace. They however, appreciated the role of the Police for curbing such practice in the district. The injured driver  was identified as Anwar Ali S/o Gullu Gujjar R/o Ragura Jammu. He was shifted  to GMC Jammu and a case FIR No. 64/2014 u/s 279/337/188/429 RPC, 2/3 Cruelty to Animal Act, 184 M. V. Act has been registered with P/S Samba and investigation started.
