SAMBA, Apr 8: Tightening noose against the bovine smugglers and their propagators, District Police Samba has foiled three bovine smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Samba, arrested two bovine smugglers, rescued 22 bovines and seized three vehicles.
Police said an information was received at PS Samba from reliable sources regarding smuggling of bovines in a truck bearing Registration No.JK03J-3738 via Samba-Mansar road. Acting on information, a police team headed by SHO Police Station, Samba successfully intercepted the truck at Naka Nud and during checking, eight bovines were found inside the vehicle which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
The bovine smugglers identified as Rafaqit Ahmed Khan, son of Nazeer Ahmed Khan of Bringan district Anantnag and Manzoor Ahmed, son of Mohd Maqbool Bakrwal of district Udhampur have been arrested.
A case FIR No. 93/2025 u/s 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
Police said in another case an information was received at PP Goran of PS Samba from reliable sources regarding smuggling of bovines via Goran-Sumb road, a police team headed by in charge Police Post Goran intercepted a Mahindra Bolero bearing Registration No. PB08BU-9168 near Dhuneyian. During checking of the vehicle, four bovines were found laden inside which were tied in a cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission.
A case FIR No. 94/2025 u/s 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
Police said another team headed by in charge Police Post Supwal of PS Samba on reliable information intercepted a Dumper bearing registration No. JK19A-2570 near Basantarbed for checking. During checking of the vehicle, 10 bovines were found laden inside which were tied in a cruel manner and transported illegally without any valid permission.
A case FIR No. 95/2025 u/s 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
The whole operation was carried out under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Samba and under the overall supervision of SSP Samba.
