Samba police arrests 8, seizes 10 vehicles for illegal mining

SAMBA, Mar 15: Samba police has launched vigorous drive against illegal mining and transportation of minor minerals across district and registered eight FIRs, arrested eight persons and seized 10 vehicles including one Excavator in different areas of the district.
Police said one Tractor-Trolley was seized for illegal mining from Devak river bed in Kamore area. Two persons were arrested in this regard.
In another case a police party of PS Bari-Brahmana seized one JCB and one Tipper while illegally extracting minor minerals from Meen Charkan Khad, Gurgi. Two persons were arrested in this regard.
Acting on information regarding illegal mining from Basantar river near Nud, a police team of PS Samba seized two Tractor-Trolleys and arrested one person.
On receiving information of illegal excavating/ illegal transportation of minor minerals from KharaKhad, Purmandal, police seized a Tractor-Trolley and arrested its driver.
A police team of PS Ghagwal seized a Tractor-Trolley from Barala Khad, Ghagwal for illegal mining and illegal transportation of Sand.
After getting reports of illegal mining from Chander Khad, Utterbehni, a police team of PP Utterbehni seized one Tractor Trolley.
A Police team of PS Vijaypur on receiving information seized a Tractor Trolley for illegal mining and illegal transportation of Sand from Devak river bed near Simbalwaliyan, Vijaypur. One person namely was arrested in this regard.
In incident of illegal mining at Devak river bed in Kamore area, police team of PS Ramgarh seized one Dumper and arrested its driver. Cases under relevant section of law were registered in the concerned police stations in this regard.
SSP Samba, Dr. Abhishek Mahajan, on the issue of illegal mining informed that Samba Police has installed banners at noticeable places depicting rates along with transportation charges of mining minerals as notified by the concerned authority for information to the general public. The drive against illegal mining activities will be intensified in the coming days and the defaulters will be booked under rule, said SSP. Samba Police is committed for the protection of public property and will ensure that public will get genuine rates of minerals in district Samba, added SSP.
