Samba police arrests 2 drug peddlers; seizes 5 kgs of poppy straw, 120 grams of Ganja

SAMBA, Aug 31: As a part of its continuous drive against the drug menace, a Police party of P/S Bari-Brahmana headed by ASI Mohan Lal under the supervision of Yashpal Singh Jamwal, SHO P/S Bari-Brahmna and overall supervision of  Kulbir Honda SDPO, Bari Brahmna today arrested one drug peddler and seized five kgs of poppy straw from his possession.
According to police during patrolling at Bari Brahmna Bazaar, it noticed the suspicious movement of one person who was coming from opposite direction with a bag in his hand. On seeing, police party he tried to escape from the spot but the police party acted swiftly and apprehended him near PNB Bank Bari Brahmna.
During search police recovered five kgs of Poppy straw (Bhuki) from his possession. He has been identified as Jasbir Paul S/o Lal Chand R/o Bari Brahmna near Shri Om Hospital. The accused person was arrested and the contraband item was seized on spot. A case FIR No.108/2016 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered against him at P/S Bari-Brahmana and the investigation taken up.
In a similar anti-drugs drive, Vijaypur Police achieved success when a Police party of P/S Vijaypur headed by SI Darshan Kumar apprehended  one person namely Lalit Kumar S/o Gopal Chanda R/o Chasttisgarh presently  near Vishkarama Mandir Vijaypur with some narcotic substances reported to be Ganja weighing 120  gms . In this regard a case FIR No. 108/2016 U/S 8/20 NDPS stands registered at P/S Vijaypur and investigation taken up. The local of the area highly appreciated the timely action of police.
