JAMMU, Aug 31: High Court today directed Station House Officer, Police Station Domana to file status of the investigation in a murder case.
The direction was passed in a petition filed by Parshotam Lal, a resident of village Sarora, who submitted that on July 11, 2015 his father namely Des Raj was done to death by Jaimal Singh and Balbir Singh, sons of Basant Singh and dead body was found on July 12, 2015 from a nullah about half a kilometre away from his residence.
The matter was immediately reported to Domana Police but despite lodging of the complaint specifically mentioning the names of the accused, nothing was done by the SHO and instead of registering FIR under Section 302 RPC, the SHO resorted to proceedings under Section 174 CrPC.
“It is a matter of serious concern for the petitioner that even after lapse of more than one year the police is still dragging its feet and is not able to catch hold of the actual culprits even when they were specifically named in the complaint”, Advocate Anil Sethi, counsel for the petitioner submitted.
After going through the petition and hearing the counsel for the petitioner, Justice Tashi Rabstan issued notice to DGP, IGP, SSP Jammu and SHO Police Station Domana. In the meanwhile, SHO Domana was directed to file status of the investigation in FIR No.132/2012 before the next date of hearing.
