RS PURA, Nov 1: Gurdeep Saini, general secretary All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) and Sarpanch Panchayat Gandli, while welcoming the grant of OBC status to the members of Saini Community residing in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, strongly castigated those community members who are demanding withdrawal of this reservation just for their personal interest.
Addressing media persons here today, Gurdeep Saini said, “Our community was neglected constantly for the last 75 years but the incumbent regime has while taking serious note of this deprivation of due right of the community, has finally provided us the due reservation which has been overwhelmingly welcomed by the members of Saini Samaj.”
He said that it is an irony of this community that some members in the Saini Samaj are demanding the exclusion of the community from the list of OBC category people and areas.
Claiming that there is almost nil representation to the Saini community, the Sarpanch asserted that this is evident from the fact that there is only one KAS officer of the community in the Civil Services while the community has no political representation. He added that the people of the Saini Community are economically, socially neglected and backward even today with a very few exceptional cases and the community on the whole needs to be equitably uplifted to bring it at par with others which can be achieved through reservation.
Saini said that the people belonging to Saini Samaj in Punjab, Delhi, UP, MP, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and HP are enjoying the facility of OBC status and today when the Govt has provided reservation benefits to the community there is no reason to reject it.
While castigating those demanding withdrawal of reservation status, Gurdeep Saini appealed to the Saini community members to beware of some disgruntled people in the community who are demanding exclusion of Saini community from the OBC status list just for their personal motives and at the cost of the whole Saini Samaj.
“We expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and LG, Manoj Sinha for providing reservation to the Saini community of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
Among others who were present in the press conference included- Satpal Saini, president J&K Saini Sabha, Chairman and Sarpanch Vijay Saini, Panch Bindu Saini, Panch Kewal, Panch Ram Lubhaya Saini, Panch Ashwani Saini, Panch Rajinder Saini, Panch Swarn Saini, Naib Sarpanch Jyoti Saini, Panch Gotam Saini, Panch Gurdyal Saini and Darshan Saini, Chairman Adalti Committee.
