Sagar’s Vondah Washer hits stands

JAMM, Dec 2: Jagar Nath Sagar’s new poetry `Vondah Washer’ hit stands today. The book was released at a simple but impressive function at K L Sehgal Hall here this afternoon at a function organised by Nagrad Adbi Sangam , Jammu a literary organization of exiled writers and poets.
The book was released by T K Bhat, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner who was the chief guest on the occasion while the function was presided over by Wali Mohammed Bhat (Aseer Kishtwari) former DG Accounts and Treasuries while Sanjay Bhat, personnel Officer in DSE, Jammu was the guest of honour on the occasion. A K Naaz president Nagrad and poet Jagar Nath Sagar were among others on dais.
Speaking on the occasion RRC, T K Bhat highly exclaimed the poetry of Sagar and termed him a fatherly figure who enjoyed great respect in his home locality in Norabad area of Kulgam district among the poets and writers.
He said there is a race nowadays in publication of books but regretted that people have given up the habit of reading books. There can be various causes for the same one is the globalization as TV has turned entire world in a global village, he added.
Bhat said in European countries the reading habit among the people has decreased but it is alarming in the sub continent and South Asian countries. He said another cause for this can be that people have become materialistic due to which we failed to link our children to their roots.
He said linking to roots is not a sin and for doing so one has to give sacrifice also. He said for our disservice to our culture, language and ethos, the historians will not forgive us but put a question mark on us? While referring to great historian Kalhan Pandit, he said we belong to such a place which showed the world how to write history.
Bhat said the society needs guidance and this can be done by those poets and writers who speak and write boldly. He urged the gathering of writers to speak boldly and expressed the hope that Sagar like courageous writers can do it.
Aseer Kishtwari in his presidential address also highly applauded the new poetry of Sagar. The welcome address was read by A K Naaz president Nagrad while programme was compered by Avtar Hugami. The others who spoke on the occasion included Hasrat Gadda, well known critic and writer, Ramesh Hangloo Director Sharda Radio and Sanjay Bhat, PO in DSE besides J N Sagar.
The paper of Dr Afaq Aziz on the book was read by Rinku Kaul while another paper was read by Avtar Hugami.
