Bhikkhu Sanghasena gets ‘Urjaa Ratan Award’

LEH, Dec 2: Bhikkhu Sanghasena, the founder president and spiritual director of Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre, was honored today with ‘Urjaa Ratan Award’ in Jaipur.
The award was given to Bhikkhu Sanghasena by Urjaa World Foundation during ‘Maha Urjaa Mahotsav’ in Jaipur, Rajasthan for his contribution in promoting world peace and religious harmony.
He received the award from Governor of Rajasthan Kalraj Mishra in the presence of Ramlal Markanda, IT & Agricultural Minister of Himachal Pradesh and various other dignitaries including bureaucrats, Government officers, diplomats, Bollywood celebrities etc.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanghasena said that the world today needs religious harmony on top priority. “Like different flowers, let us all come together to make this world a better place to live,” he added. Presenting Ladakh as a perfect example of religious harmony to a gathering of more than 1000 people, he said that everyone must visit Ladakh and see the religious harmony in Ladakh.
Recently, he was also honoured with the ‘Respect Age International Award of Excellence’ at a program held at India International Centre. The award was presented to him for his tireless services to the people of Ladakh, particularly the old and destitute.
While expressing gratitude to the Respect Age International Foundation, he had said that service to the old and destitute is one among the highest blessings taught by Lord Buddha. He had urged everyone to ensure that no old people remain homeless and disrespectful.
