SRINAGAR, June 14: Asking the officers to ensure the early completion of prestigious ropeway project at Mukhdoom Sahib, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Ali Mohammad Sagar today said that it would go a long way in boosting the tourism related activities in the area, besides providing necessary facilities to the devotees coming across the valley coming to pay their obeisance at the revered shrine.
The Minister was interacting with officers during his city tour to overlook the implementation of various projects including the prestigious ropeway project being constructed by Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation.
Mr. Sagar said that the project would go a long way in acting as a catalyst for boosting the tourism and other related activities in the old city Srinagar and it is our endeavor to ensure that it is completed in all respects as soon as possible. He also directed the officers to complete the craft center and the restaurant being constructed simultaneously with the ropeway, so that the people coming there get the requisite facilities as well.
The Minister also inspected the pace of work at the Community Hall being constructed at Mukhdoom Sahib with an estimated cost of Rs. 1.20 crore and directed the concerned to ensure its completion by October ending, so that it can be inaugurated for the general convenience of the people living in the area and its catchments.
Mr. Sagar also visited Sikanderpora-Nowhatta and directed the officers to complete the lanes and drains of the area for the general convenience of the people living there. He also announced an amount of Rs. 9 lakh out of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for the same.
While interacting with the people of different localities, the Minister said that the Government is committed for overall and holistic development of the old city. He said that the people should understand that the political parties who are trying to mislead the people have always believed in divisive politics and it was during their tenure that the historic city of Srinagar was subjected to worst form of discrimination and now they are trying to project themselves as champions of the old city.
He said that the present Government has introduced various prestigious projects for ensuring development of the city so that it regains its pristine glory and also comes up on the tourist map which would go a long way in boosting the economic activities of the area.
