REASI, May 15: Safai Karamcharis Union here today refused duty at quarantine centres without being provided with safety gears.
Union leader, Pinka Sandhu said that Safai Karamcharis should not be deployed at quarantine centres for cleaning and lifting garbage without proper safety equipments.
He said that there is risk to the lives of Safai Karamcharis if they work at quarantine centres where suspected cases coming from outside States are kept for administrative quarantine.
Sandhu further demanded that Safai Karamcharis should be brought under insurance cover and their salary should be hiked.
He also said that as there are only a few Safai Karamcharis with Municipal Committee Reasi so new Safai Karamcharis should be hired at present.
