JAMMU, Mar 1: PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Minister and Congress leader Sham Lal Sharma today urged Speaker Mubarak Gul to disqualify Independent MLA Engineer Rashid from the Assembly for his yesterday’s demand supporting plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir
Raising the issue amid protests in the Assembly on adjournment motions, Mr Sharma said: “Mr Rashid had become MLA of the House by taking oath of Indian and State Constitution. He has no right to be a member of the House, whose sanctity he has challenged”.
Sham said Rashid has violated sanctity of the House and has, thus, no right to be its member. “Rashid should be removed as member of the House”, he added.
Gul clarified that Deputy Speaker (Sartaj Madni), who was in the chair yesterday, had ordered that the remarks of Rashid wouldn’t go on record.
Rashid said Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory and the issue has to be resolved.
