Ruhullah calls on Union HM

NEW DELHI, Aug 3: NC MP from Srinagar, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi here today met Union Home Minister, Amit Shah and demanded the release of prisoners from J&K held without trials for an extended period of time.
The MP also requested for transfer of individuals, currently under-trial and not yet convicted, to jails within J&K.
In a letter to HM, Ruhullah emphasized the urgency of addressing the prolonged detention of these individuals and stressed on the importance of upholding their rights to a fair and timely trial.
The NC MP claimed that several people from J&K are languishing in different jails of the country.
He stressed that weather conditions of Kashmir are different from the rest of the nation and those prisoners who are convicted or are under-trial should be shifted to Kashmir on humanitarian aspects as it is also difficult for relatives of these prisoners to meet them in different parts of the country.
