KISHTWAR, May 24: The Cybercrime Investigation Unit (CIU) of Police here today has recovered online defrauded money amounting to Rs. six lakh six thousand.
Sharing details in this regard Kishtwar Police stated that they received multiple complaints regarding online frauds involving mobile recharge scams, installation of third-party mobile apps and malicious Telegram links promoting Dream 11 teams wherein the total losses reported by the victims amounted to Rs. 6,06,000.
CIU swiftly initiated an investigation and after relentless efforts successfully recovered Rs. 6,06,000 while efforts by cops to recover the remaining amount were going on with promising leads.
District Police Kishtwar has urged the general public to stay vigilant against online fraud by avoiding clicking on suspicious links, refraining from installing unauthorized apps and be cautious while sharing personal information online.
A handout stated that in case of any suspicious activity, one may report immediately to the National Cybercrime Helpline Number 1930, the Cybercrime Investigation Unit Kishtwar at 9103416100, or PCR Kishtwar at 9906154100/9103454100.
