JAMMU, Nov 9: Additional District Magistrate, Jammu has imposed fine of Rs 20,000 on Food and Beverage Manager Hotel Fortune Inn-Reviera and nominee for the hotel for selling sub-standard and contaminated food items to the customers.
According to the Additional District Magistrate order, the Food Safety Officer, Jammu Municipal Corporation had inspected the premises of Hotel Inn-Reviera on June 3, 2012 and collected the sample of cheese kept in the kitchen for cooking and sale to the customers.
“The sample failed to conform to the standards prescribed for cheese under Regulation No.2.1.5 of Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011”, the order said.
“If such large hotels are selling such sub-standard and contaminated food items charging high price then would be the fate of customers, who are visiting such food serving places hoping that they will be served quality and hygienic food”, the Additional District Magistrate observed while imposing fine of Rs 20,000 on the respondents.
