To address certain misgivings and apprehensions following according divisional status to Ladakh and associated issues, Governor’s administration has decided to meet the aspirations of the people of Kargil by newly created Administrative/Revenue Division of Ladakh to have its headquarters jointly at Leh and Kargil.
Two Additional Divisional Commissioners would be posted, one each in Leh and Kargil. The solution to the problem as proposed is, under the circumstances, appearing the most plausible especially when capitals and associated offices can rotate on half yearly basis between Srinagar and Jammu which is now appearing avoidable both from financial and administrative angles, why should the divisional headquarters be not rotated in Ladakh region which is purely for the convenience of the people to address their various associated problems. It is a welcome step that the Divisional Commissioner and the IG would be spending their time in Kargil and Leh in two halves, the periodicity of which would be determined by the Committee. Hence the SRO needing an amendment in this respect would be revised shortly.
