JAMMU, Sep 23: To discuss the distortions of history, a seminar was held at Rotary Bhawan, here today by Rotary Club Jammu in collaboration with a CSO, National Corruption Control & Human Welfare Organization (NCCHWO).
The main speaker of the Symposium was Colonel Ajay Kumar Raina, a renowned Historian, Research scholar, Defense analyst and an entrepreneur. He has around 15 books to his credit and specializes in operations of 1947 Indo-Pak conflict.
The proceedings of the Symposium were moderated by Shreransh Jain, who also introduced the speakers. A traditional welcome was accorded to Colonel Ajay Kumar Raina by Dr Dushyant Choudhary (District Governor, Rotary District 3070) and Brigadier Harcharan Singh (National Administrator, NCCHWO).
In his welcome address, Dr Dushyant emphasized on the requirement of identifying the portion of history of India which requires corrections. He assured support of Rotary Club Family in the research work being done by various scholars, to correct the anomalies.
In his keynote address, Brigadier Harcharan Singh said that the fault lines in history are required to be repaired. He brought out that the rich culture, heritage, literature and arts of India has not been glorified, as they should have been. “Our advanced knowledge of Astronomy and Astrology was ahead of all other civilizations. The invaders glorified themselves and painted a pathetic picture of the Indian Social System. The research work of Colonel Ajay Kumar Raina has corrected many inaccuracies of the history, with special reference to J&K and 1947 conflict,” he added.
The audience was spellbound by the educative talk by Colonel Ajay Kumar Raina. The talk centered around the distortions that invariably form part of recorded history and long term impact of these on social and political scenarios. Broad based study and research work has been done to correct some of these inaccuracies. Colonel Raina said that he will continue research in this direction to identify such distortions further, as one of his missions.
Balraj Singh (president, Rotary Club Jammu Tawi) and members from Rotary Club, SS Jain Sabha, Jain Mahila Mandal, Jain Yuvak Sangh, Inner Wheel Club, Jammu Tawi, Vichar Kranti Manch International, Home for Old & Infirm and NCCHWO participated in the Seminar.
