Since terrorism is a threat to global peace, intimidating and destabilizing through their fragmented ideological tags, using any approachable means such as bomb, cyber, narco, and hijacking to destabilize the nation’s Government, civil society, social and economic development, and its impact occurs on global peace and security. It is duty of the global leaders to combat and eliminate the terror acts through extending their responsibilities and cooperation.
India under the leadership of Narendra Modi, performing as emerging global leader using global platform to cooperate in countering the terrorist activities with bold actions. In his visit to various nations and organizations, he always alerts every leader on the consequence of ignoring terrorism. In South Asian nations, India is one of the most effective regions of terror activists since from Indian Independence. Under the Modi regime, pro-active steps have been taken without any compromising dialogue for nation’s peace and security.
Modi Government has already taken some of quickest retaliation steps to counter terrorist activities particularly by Pakistani sponsored terrorist activists in Jammu and Kashmir. In recent history, some of active steps against terrorist activities are surgical strikes in 2015 and 2016, Balakot air strike in 2019, cracking down on terror financing, advocating a strong anti-terror policy globally, strengthened Armed Forces to tackle terrorists, and UAPA law made stronger.
It is envisioned of Narendra Modi to take bold step to ensure global human right and rule of law. On 28-29 Oct, 2022 India hosted special meeting of UNSC Counter Terrorism Committee in Mumbai and Delhi. India under Modi leadership urged ‘Zero tolerance on terrorism’ and ‘No money for terror’. Indian Government clarified that there is no good and bad terrorism, terrorism is an attack on humanity, freedom and civilization. It knows no boundaries. Further, it is ushered that anyone who supports radicalization should have no place in any country. Emphasizing on the internal security, Prime Minister warned India needs to defeat the threat arising from Naxalism both ‘gun-totting and pen wielding.
The dealing with terrorism under Modi regime to curb the terror menace has taken crystal clear steps, India has already learnt a listen from post-independence Kashmir history that how neglected sparked burn whole Valley, this is bigger reason for removal of Article 370. Some of preventive measures prescribed by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has strongly asked for avoiding any ambiguity in dealing with terrorism and warned against nations that use terrorism as a tool of foreign policy. Now, Prime Minister has already brought many preventive solutions in disputed parts of nations. In Northeast, since 2014 insurgency violence has been down by 80%, civilian deaths decreased by 89%, around 6,000 militants have surrendered. Rolling back of Armed Forces Special Power Act has been reduced from a large part of the Northeast, it is completely withdrawn from Tripura and Meghalaya, 60% of Assam now free from AFSPA, 77% dip in naxal violence, similarly in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, and Nagaland majorly normalizing the situation through continuous dialogue for peace.
In his recent directions of Narendra Modi as global leader, there is needed to be minutely dealing with microscopic exercise, it is believed that microscopic exercise is essential that ‘a terrorist is an individual, but terrorism is about a network of individuals’. For uprooting terrorism needs a larger, proactive, systemic response, he emphasized that Government must break their support networks and hit their finances. Another essential Herculean task is keeping vigilance on proxy wars; state actors, organizations and Individual that try to create sympathy for terrorists must also be isolated. Further emphasized that the world needs to unite against all kinds of overt and covert backing of terror. At the International platform the Prime Minister stressed that the role of United Nations Security Council, Financial Action Task Force, Financial Intelligence Units, and the Egmount Groups should boost cooperation in the prevention, detection and prosecution of illegal acts for terrorism. And last his international arena appeals is to strengthen international laws for humanitarian, criminal and refugee for larger interest.
Conclusion: Hitherto India plays a most neutral country to take universal decisions and steps for common causes. Indian comprehensive approach to address terrorism has nodded globally to tackle common problems. India’s logic to eliminate terrorism is to fight on every nexus, without associated with any religion, nationality, civilization or ethnic group. India is advancing toward bilateral and multilateral cooperation to curb the menaces of terrorism.
