Robbers loot Rs one lakh at gun point

KATHUA, May 18: Three masked youth looted Rs one lakh from Kajaria Hardware Store at gun point at Chadwal near, here late last night.
According to reports, three motorcycle borne youth wearing masks, carrying two country made pistols and sharp edged weapons trooped inside the Kajaria Hardware Store at Chadwal and threatened its owner Mohit Gupta by pointing pistol at him and looted Rs one lakh in cash.
The owner of hardware store said that when he was closing the shop for night and was about to leave for his home, three masked men trooped in his shop and with two country made pistols and sharp edged weapons in their hands placed the pistol on him and looted the Rs one lakh cash from the shop.
However, they did not harm the dealer. After looting the cash, the robbers fled from the spot on bike.
Sources said that the hardware store which is situated on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway near Chadwal bridge is hardly a furlong away from Chadwal Police Station.
Soon after the incident, the Chadwal Police led by SHO and FSL team rushed to the spot and collected evidence. They also collected the CCTV footage and took finger prints. The police recorded the statement of the dealer also.
SSP Kathua Shivdeep Singh said that the police is investigating the matter and it will soon get a breakthrough. It may be recalled that two years back three youth from Punjab carrying sharp edged weapons looted a gold smith at Koota Morh in Kathua district. Among them two robbers were arrested within days by police while third was later arrested from Punjab.
Besides, one year back a bank was looted in Kathua and Rs 1.25 crore were looted from the chest. However, the robbery was later worked out by police.
