RKJ primary service programmes in DRM mode also

JAMMU, Nov 9: In addition to AM mode, the primary  service programmes of Radio Kashmir Jammu are also being transmitted   in DRM mode from November 5, 2015.
With this, Radio Kashmir Jammu has become one of the few selected stations in the country to transmit digital audio signal in DRM mode also. It is a milestone in the history of digital audio broadcasting using state of art broadcasting techniques.
The DRM frequency is 1000 KHz and the AM frequency is the scheduled 990 KHz.
Pertinent to mention here that DRM (Digital Radio Mondale) is the standardized digital broadcasting system for all  broadcasting frequencies offering better quality of audio content and is cost efficient. The technology is spectrally more efficient than AM & FM as modern audio compression technique enables more efficient use of available band width. DRM can deliver FM comparable sound quality on low frequencies, which allow for very long distance signal propagation.
