JAMMU, Nov 9: Various functions were organized in connection with Lord Dhanwantri Jayanti today.
Minister of State for Finance & Information Technology, Pawan Kumar Gupta today visited Jagriti Old Age Home, Udhampur and attended a function regarding celebration of Dhanwantri day here.
Mr Gupta was the chief guest and DIG Udhampur- Reasi Range Surinder Gupta was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister appreciated the efforts of the President, Old Age Home for organizing the function and spreading awareness among the people on the importance of Dhanwantri Day celebrations. Terming the senior citizens an important part of society, Mr. Gupta said that we have to respect our elders and show them love and affection they so richly deserve.
The Minister on the occasion also highlighted the various developmental initiatives launched by the Government in the district. He also appreciated the selfless services of President Jagriti Old Age, Dr. R.C. Nagar for helping the deprived and downtrodden people.
While responding to the demands and problems faced by the Jagriti Management Committee and locals of the area, Mr. Gupta assured them that all genuine demands shall be addressed.
DIG Udhampur- Reasi Range, Surinder Gupta also spoke on the significance of Dhanwantri Day. He stressed on organizing such programmes in future also.
On the occasion, Dr Makhan, Dr T R Gupta and Dr Hirdyanath were honored by the Minister for excellent service to the people in the medical profession.
Among others, SSP Udhampur Suleman Choudhary, DSWO Rachna Sharma, prominent citizens and people of the area were also present on the occasion.
Another function was organised by Indigenous Medicines Organisation (IMO) here, today to commemorate the Jayanti of Lord Dhanwantri, the creator of Ayurvedic System of Medicines.
The function was held under the chairmanship of Dr K K Gandotra, former Deputy Director (ISM) in which large number of professionals participated. While paying floral tributes to Lord Dhanwantri, he stressed the gathering to follow the path shown by Lord Dhanwantri and serve the ailing humanity selflessly with spirit of dedication. He also asked them to rededicate themselves to the cause of Ayurveda.
Dr Mahesh Sharma general secretary IMO also spoke on the occasion and stressed the need to educate the people about the personnel health and hygiene and importance of locally available through low cost and highly effective herbs. He said Director General ISM Dr Kabir Dar has taken various steps for streamlining the ISM Department and appealed the Government to start the Ayurveda and Unanai Medical Colleges in the State as early as possible.
The vote of thanks was presented by Dr Ashok Sharma. The function was among others attended by Dr Som Dutt, Dr Vinod Sharma and Dr K K Kapoor.
