Rich tributes paid to Swami Vivekananda on birth anniversary

JAMMU, Jan 12: Rich tributes were paid to Swami Vivekananda on his birth anniversary, which is also celebrated as National Youth Day.
To mark celebration of National Youth Day being celebrated to commemorate birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, inaugurated a capacity building programme on child rights, child protection, Juvenile Justice Act and ICPS for children of Jammu district. The programme was organized by National Development Foundation in collaboration with District Child Protection Office at The Institution of Engineers, Channi, here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Advisor urged upon the younger generation to adopt virtuous values among themselves and develop a great sense of duty towards the nation and fellow citizens.
The program began with the pledge ceremony followed by release of posters regarding protection of child rights. Besides, children of Bal Ashram, Nari Niketan and other homes participated in the symposium and painting competitions while students from Nari Niketan RS Pura presented a dance performance on patriotic song.
Advisor also distributed prizes among the winners of symposium and painting competition.
Mission Director ICPS, Shabnam Shah Kamili, Mission Director, ICDS Nitu Gupta, SSP Shreedhar Patil, Founder Emeritus of NDF Rajiv Khajuria, Senior Advocate, Rameshwar Singh Jamwal besides senior officers of the concerned departments and children were present on the occasion.
As a mark of tribute to the great Indian Youth icon Swami Vivekananda, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India organized the National Youth Day celebrations on his birth anniversary. The National Youth Festival is celebrated every year from 12 to 16 Jan. This year, the National Youth Parliament Festival (NYPF) is also being organized along with the National Youth Festival. The valedictory function of NYPF graced with the esteemed presence of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a virtual mode from. Lok Sabha Speaker, Union Education Minister and Union MoS (I/C) for Youth Affairs and Sports were also present on this occasion. The event was live telecasted on the online platform of IIM Sirmaur. Prof (Dr) Neelu Rohmetra Director IIM Sirmaur also joined the event with the faculty, staff and students of the institute. The live telecast was arranged by the event management committee of IIM Sirmaur.

Director IIT Jammu addressed the students and with the help of the story, asked them to be assertive and not aggressive in day to day dealings. Padma Shri Prof Bimal Kumar Roy, a well-known statistician and cryptographer, Chairperson of National Statistics Commission, Former Director Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata discussed “The Man Behind Indian Sciences”. Student volunteers Yash, Rishab and Himanshu, Faculty Coordinator Dr Suchismita Roy, Abhishek and Shubham members at KRITASH were present on the occasion.
To commemorate Swami Vivekananda birth anniversary, the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu organized a Lecture cum Interaction Programme on the topic “Life and Teachings of Swami Vivekananda” at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium. Swami Anatarananda from Ramakrishna Mission Jammu was the keynote speaker whereas Prof Manoj K Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu was the chief guest and Prof Arvind Jasrotia, Registrar, University of Jammu was the guest speaker. Dean Students Welfare, Prof Prakash C Antahal and his team for successfully organized the programme. Department of Botany, University of Jammu celebrated birthday of Swami Vivekananda. Prof Veenu Kaul, Head of the Department welcomed all the participants. Prof Yash Pal Sharma spoke on the importance of the day. Prof Namrata Sharma, Former Head of the Department and students also shared their views. During the event the students and research scholars also interacted with the two young alumni of the Department Dr Sushil Verma, HoD Botany, BGSBU, Rajouri and Dr Amjad Ali, Dean Student Welfare, Ladakh University.
To commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, NSS Wing of Dean Students Welfare SKUAST-Jammu organized a virtual webinar on ‘Role of Youth in National Integration”. In the inaugural address NSS, Coordinator Dr Subhash C Kashyap made a power point presentation on the life and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda. NSS students of first year B.Sc. Agriculture and BTech Biotechnology participated. A debate was also organized in which many students took part. Shreemata Roy was adjudged as the best speaker.
Red Ribbon Club, NSS and NCC Unit of Government Degree College Samba organised Essay Writing and Poster Making Competitions on the theme of “Channelizing Youth Power in Nation Building” on the eve of National Youth Day. Prof Pawan Kumar Gupta, Dr Seema, Dr Narsing Dass, Dr Rajni Sharma and many others were present on the occasion.
In context of National Youth Day, Government Degree College Ghagwal under the supervision of Principal Prof Suresh Kumar Sharma, and Dr Deepika Sharma Convener of Red Ribbon Club of GDC Ghagwal actively participated in organising “Tree for Life” by decorating the tree with red ribbons and with flash cards bearing motivational and positive quotes both in Hindi and English language.
On the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary, Red Ribbon Club of GDC Sunderbani under the supervision of Principal Prof Vandana Gupta organized a programme on theme ‘Tree for Life’. In this event, staff members along with students took part.
NSS Unit of Government Degree College Mahanpur in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club celebrated National Youth Day. On the occasion, students shared their views through video messages. Dr RK Koul Principal of the institute threw light on the importance of the day.
To commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, NSS Wing of Government PG College Rajouri celebrated National Youth Day. On this occasion, online video message competition was organized. All the messages were uploaded on the NSS Youtube Channel “NSS GDC Rajouri”. Vishavpreet Singh and Harneet Kour were adjudged as best among the boys and girls participants respectively. Dr Naseem Ahmed and Prof Supriya Gupta, NSS Programme Officers, students and Principal of the college Prof (Dr) Shakeel Ahmed Raina were also present.
NSS Unit and Red Ribbon Club of Government College of Education Jammu launched a series of Inter-College Activities celebrating National Youth Day. The National Level Webinar titled “Channelizing Youth Power for National Building” will be held tomorrow. Besides Webinar, Video and Card making competition was launched for the students on the topic “Role of Youth of National Building”. The event was organised under the patronage of Principal GCoE Dr Kulvinder Kour. She congratulated and applauded the efforts of Dr Shubhra Jamwal, NSS Program Officer and Prof. Radhika Mahajan and Shapia Shameem, Member Red Ribbon club and encouraged them for future endeavours as well.
NSS Unit of GDC Khour celebrated National Youth Day. On this occasion an online quiz competition on the life and works of Swami Vivekananda was conducted in which more than 60 students from different colleges participated. Under the guidance of Principal of the college Prof Hans Raj, the event was organized by NSS, Programme Officer, Gurvinder Kour and Dr Neetika Sharma, HOD Sociology.
NSS Unit of Government Degree College Nagrota organized a webinar on teachings of Swami Vivekananda on the occasion of National Youth Day. The welcome address was delivered by Dr Iqbal Quasim, Incharge of NSS Unit of the college. Dr Ritu Dewan, Assistant Professor in English was the resource person. Dr Attar Singh, Principal GDC Nagrota was the patron of the programme.
To commemorate National Youth Day, a community based awareness programme on COVID 19 was organized by the NSS Unit of GDC Kalakote in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club. Principal, GDC, Kalakote, Dr Romesh Kumar Gupta highlighted the importance of the day.
NSS Unit of GDC Bishnah celebrated National Youth Day by organizing a symposium competition on the theme “Role of Youth in Promoting Social Harmony”. In all, five students participated in the symposium and threw light on the topic. Anmol Sharma from 3rd semester won 1st position, Vishesh Sharma from 1st semester clinched 2nd position whereas Priya Angurana from 1st semester bagged 3rd position. The presentations of the participants were adjudged by a jury comprising Dr Seema Sudan, Prof Anuradha Choudhary and Prof Ashu Manhas. Dr. Anuradha Pandoh, Principal of the college threw light on the importance of the day. Later, all the winners were awarded with mementos and the participants were given certificates of participation.
Government Degree College Darhal celebrated National Youth Day by organising a Poster making competition on the topic “Role of youth in Nation Building” in which students participated enthusiastically. Principal of the College Prof Sumanesh Jasrotia threw light on the importance of the day. Ataiqa Tabassum of Sem III, Mahrul Nisa of Sem III and Rozia Kosser of Sem I were adjudged first, second and third respectively.
National Youth Day was celebrated in Government Degree College for boys Udhampur in the college premises by NSS Unit. Principal of the College Prof Subhash Chander presided over the event. Dr Rippy Bawa, NSS PO, Prof Babu Lal Thakur, Prof Romesh Kumar Atri, Prof Suresh Kumar Dogra, Dr Ved Kumar and many others were present on the occasion.
GDC Jindrah organized online poster making competition on National Youth Day under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Rajshree Dhar, Principal of college. Students participated enthusiastically in the activity. Arti Padha of Sem 5th secured first position, Meenakshi Jamwal of 1st Sem bagged second position and Zarina of Sem 1st clinched 3rd position.
NCC GDC Sunderbani organized a function under the supervision of Principal Prof (Dr) Vandana Gupta on the occasion of National Youth Day. About 10 NCC cadets along with students of the college participated in the event. Prof Harshal Sharma (CTO NCC Unit) and Dr. Shezad Ahmed delivered lectures.
Red Ribbon Club GCW Gandhi Nagar celebrated National Youth Day. A webinar was conducted on theme “Channelizing Youth Power for Nation Building”. Principal of the college Prof (Dr) Sangita Nagari while speaking on the occasion motivated and inspired students with her golden words of encouragement. Dr Manisha Sarup Kohli was keynote speaker of the webinar.
Red Ribbon Club, NCC and NSS Units of Government Degree College Akhnoor celebrated National Youth Day on the theme “Channelizing Youth Power for Nation Building” by using digital platform under the supervision of Principal Dr Namarta. On the occasion, one minute promotional video and poster making were organized. Amita Rani bagged first position, while Sonia Chib and Harisha Bhagat shared second position. The third position was shared by Balbir Kumar, Harash Nagotra and Naresh Sharma. All the participants were given e-certificates.
DPS Udhampur organized the DPS Cyclothon 2021 on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary in collaboration with District Youth Services and Sports Department Udhampur. Dignitaries present on the occasion were DDC Udhampur Puran Chand Sharma, Pro Vice Chairman of the school Dr JC Gupta, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Swaran Singh, MD of the School Vivek Gupta and Principal Dr Kunal Anand.
Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission (SVMM) celebrated birth anniversary of Swami Ji and Foundation Day of its charitable hospital located at Ambphalla. The function was presided over by President Anil Gupta. Hawan for peace, progress, wellness and prosperity of the people was organized. Later, Gupta inaugurated a free eye camp, where more than 20 patients were registered for free investigations, surgery, lens and medicines under the supervision of Dr Suruchi Gupta (Ophthalmologist). Gupta along with members of governing body also released the Hospital Calendar on Swami Vivekananda. Amar Chand Gupta Senior Vice-President was also present on the occasion.
J&K Bharat Scouts and Guides Jammu celebrated National Youth Day and conducted Mono Acting activity under Fit India Movement in which about 50 Scouts, Guides, Scouters and Guiders viz heads of various institutions participated. ID Soni Ex. State Commissioner (S) was the chief guest while Praba Jain Ex. Joint State Commissioner was guest of honour on this occasion. On the occasion, MM Sharma and Kishore Sharma were felicitated with the ALT (Assistant Leader Trainer) beads and parchment. The whole programme was conceived and conducted under the directions of Nasreen Khan, Administrator, J&K UT Bharat Scouts and Guides, Jammu.
District unit of BJP Jammu West paid floral tributes to Swami Vivekanand on his birth anniversary at District Headquarters, Kachi Chawni. The program was held under the leadership of District General Secretary Karan Sat Sharma. The program was addressed by senior leaders including UT Publicity Secretary Ayodhya Gupta, Seh Prabhari Jammu West Shailja Gupta, BJP Leader Praduman Singh, Mandal President Janipur Raveesh Mengi, Mahila Morcha General Secretary Urvashi Gupta, District Vice Presidents Ajay Manhas and Annu Behnal, Veena Gupta, Corporators Jeet Angral, Yash Pal Sharma, Surinder Sharma and Sat Pal Karlupia.
National Students’ Union of India paid tribute to Swami Vivekananda on his birth anniversary outside University of Jammu under the leadership of Sunny Parihar District President Jammu along with other NSUI activists. Later, NSUI hosted ‘Boot Polish’ campaign against rising unemployment in India and particularly in UT Jammu and Kashmir.
On the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, interaction with young generation was held at Police Station Arnia under Jammu Police’s “Youth Connect” programme. On the directions of SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil, youth of Arnia and adjoining villages were called for interaction by SHO Arnia Harjeet Singh and SDPO RS Pura Shabir Khan in the presence of SP Headquarters Jammu Raja Aadil Hamid. Speaking on the occasion, SP Headquarters Jammu and SDPO RS Pura showcased the life history of Swami Vivekananda towards socio upliftment of the society.
On the occasion of National Youth day, a Youth Connect meeting was held at Police Station Akhnoor with the youth. Wide interaction on topics related to drug menace, cyber crimes, general awareness regarding crime and other issues was held besides carrier counseling session was also held. SHO Akhnoor Ravi Parihar and SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial impressed upon the participants to share any relevant information with police for checking crime in the society and become the torchbearer of friendly police public relations.
On the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, Bharat Scout and Guide, District Udhampur Unit organized a district level program at Shivalik College. Former District Commissioner Scouts Ashok Kumar threw light on the importance of the day. Former District Training Commissioner Veena Sharma, Scout Master Rakesh Sharma, Amardev Singh, Scout Master Dr Khemraj, Former District Organizing Commissioner Vikram Gulati, Guide Captain Anuradha Sharma, Ranger Amook Sharma, Sunil Kumar and scout and guides of various schools were present on the occasion.
National Youth Day was celebrated by Tawi Trekkers J&K by organizing a day long trek from Kattal Batal (Nagrota) to Aitham (7 kilometers short of Surinsar) via Pahairh Devta. The group of 11 trekkers was led by a senior trekker Sushil Singh and included 76 years old advisor of the club Professor Lalit Magotra who is also President of Dogri Sanstha, Jammu, Ram Khajuria (71), President of the Club, Vivek Chauhan (59), Principal of Oriental Academy Senior Secondary School, Jammu, Sumit Khajuria, Sonam Sidharth, Sourav Deep Singh, all senior members, Bal Krishan Sharma, Joint Director Agriculture, Sahil Khajuria, new entrants to the club and 9 years old Arya Vir Singh.
On birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, a Hindu Dharam Sansad was launched in New Delhi. The event was presided over by PC Sarangi, Union Minister MOS Animal Husbandry and Fisheries. A large number of activists all over the world attended the function. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Vivek Kaul, Founder said that the long pending dream of uniting Hindus globally as Swami Vivekananda did, had come true. Among prominent dignitaries felicitated by Hindu Dharam sansad was Ravinder Pandita, Head of Save Sharda Committee Kashmir. The charter of the Sansad includes bringing all Hindu Organisations across globe under one umbrella like Vatican or SGPC. The programme was compered by well known TV personality Abhinav Chaturvedi of ‘Hum Log’ fame.
