Rich tributes paid to Shaheed Udham Singh on martyrdom day

JAMMU, July 31: Rich tributes were paid today to legendary martyr Shaheed Udham Singh on his martyrdom day.
To commemorate the death anniversary of Shaheed Udham Singh, J&K Freedom Fighters’ Association (JKFFA) held a function at Bal Niketan Ved Mandir Ambphalla, Jammu under the presidentship of Ved Gandotra. Remembering Shaheed Udham Singh, Chander Mohan Sharma, chief guest highlighted his life history and his determination to eliminate British General Dwyer, who was responsible for the massacre of Jalianwala Bagh, Amritsar.
The speakers also remembered Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, Netaji Subash Chander Bose, Maharani Laxmi Bai, Chander Shekhar Azad and all those who contributed for the freedom of the motherland.
The death anniversary of Sardar Udham Singh was also observed at Old Hospital Road Jammu by Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee, Jammu. While addressing a mammoth gathering, Sukhdev Singh, chairman of the Committee highlighted the biography of Shaheed Udham Singh, who is known as an Indian revolutionary and a brave hearted man who assassinated Michael O’dwyer on March 13 as a revenge of the Jallianwalla Bagh Massacre. On July 31, 1940, he was hanged by Britishers at Pentonville prison and buried in the prison ground.
