JAMMU, Mar 24: To commemorate the 41st death anniversary of Pt. Prem Nath Dogra, a programme was organised by Pt. Prem Nath Dogra Trust at BJP Head Quarters here today.
The ADC to former Maharaja Hari Singh, Capt. (retd) Dewan Singh, was the chief guest on the occasion, while BJP state president Jugal Kishore Sharma presided over it. Trust chairman Mulkh Raj Pargal, Trustee Brig (retd.) Suchet Singh also shared the dais. They paid floral tributes to late leader.
Capt. Dewan Singh, while paying tributes, narrated the circumstances which led to the creation of Praja Parishad under Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Ji and its historic agitation of Ek Vidhaan, Ek Nishaan Ek Pradhan. He was a visionary leader who very timely launched this agitation resulting into strengthening of ties between this state and the centre, said Capt.Dewan Singh.
Jugal Kishore Sharma said that whole life of Panditji was dedicated for the cause and welfare of the people cutting across party lines, region, religion and caste. He said that the principles of Pandit Ji carry more significance in the present scenario of the state.
Muklh Raj Pargal gave detail account of events from time to time which took Dogra Ji to such a high position that he came to be called as “Sher-e-Duggar”. He expressed hope that today’s programme will prove to be successful in sending the message of Panditji to the public.
Brig. Suchet Singh, said that the unity among different sections of the society which was displayed during 2008 agitation is now the need of the day as the state has been facing threat to its unity once again from anti-national elements.
Justice G.D.Sharma (retd.), described Pt. Prem Nath Dogra as an icon of patriotism and nationalism. He did the politics of uniting the people for strengthening the nationalist forces in this state and his selfless services brought people from all sections of life close to him, added Sharma.
Children from Bal Niketan, Ved Mandir presented patriotic songs during the programme.
Praduman Singh recited a Dogri poem.
Trust Secretary Daya Ram Sharma conducted the proceedings of the programme.
