JAMMU, Feb 14: A number of programmes were organized today across Jammu & Kashmir to pay homage to the 40 CRPF personnel who lost their lives on this day three years ago when a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into a CRPF bus which was part of a convoy travelling from Jammu to Srinagar
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) today paid floral tributes to 40 of its personnel martyred in the dastardly Pulwama terror attack. Additional Director General (ADG), CRPF, D S Chaudhary, led the officers and jawans of the paramilitary force in paying their tributes at the Martyr’s Memorial, Lethpora – about 25 kms from Srinagar. Chaudhary and other CRPF personnel laid floral wreaths at the memorial and saluted sacrifices of the 40 soldiers.
“Every year we come together here on this day to remember the 40 brave jawans who lost their lives in Pulwama (attack). We remember their sacrifice and pay tributes to them from the bottom of our hearts,” Chaudhary told reporters on the sidelines of the ceremony.
On the third anniversary of the Pulwama attack, a tribute programme was organized by all Jammu based units and establishments as “Shradhanjali Programme” in which tributes were paid to the martyred soldiers. During the programme, Veer Nari Shazia Kouser, wife of Saheed HC/GD Naseer Ahmed was honored by Kamal Sisodiya, 2nd in Command, 76 Battalion by presenting a shawl and Bonsai plant. The programme was organized under the guidance of T H Khan, Commandant 76 Battalion CRPF. During the occasion, other officers, SOs, Jawans of the Battalion and NCC cadets were also present.

Apni Party Provincial president Jammu Manjit Singh today paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Pulwama attack at Vijaypur in Samba district. The programme was organized by the paramilitary personnel’s association at Vijaypur in which the sacrifices of the martyrs were remembered by the people. In his address, Manjit Singh remembered the contribution of the defence forces within and on the border to keep the country safe from the enemy and their continuous threat to the peace.
In Gandhi Nagar office of Apni Party, senior vice-president Ghulam Hassan Mir, general secretary Vikram Malhotra, provincial president Women wing Jammu Namrta Sharma, provincial vice-president Jammu Faqir Nath and other party leaders paid homage to the Pulwama martyrs and expressed sympathy with their families.
While paying tributes to Pulwaam martyrs, during a progamme, Nitish Mahajan (State Executive Member, BJP J&K) said that on the day of love, we are remembering those who showed a greater love for their country. “Our salute to the martyrs of Pulwama attack,’’ he said while praying for the brave souls. He saluted brave Jawans and extended solidarity and condolences to their families.
J&K BJYM chief Arun Prabhat, while paying tributes to Pulwama martyrs during a Shradhanjali Sammaroh ‘Ek Sham Shaheedo ke Naam’ organized by Sargam Sangeet Society at Ramban, said that sacrifices of martyrs will be remembered forever because it is due to these sacrifices that people are living a life free of fear. The BJYM leader also took out a Mashal Rally in solidarity with the sacrifices given by the brave-heart for the people of the country.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Jammu organized functions at its Regional office, Green Belt Park Road, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu and its West office, Chinore, Laxmipuram, Jammu to commemorate the martyrdom of CRPF personnel in Pulwama, which was attended by senior AAP leaders Ram Singh Chauhan, Dr Rajinder Thappa, Rajesh Bali, Amit Langer, Kuldeep Kumar Rao, Amrik Singh Sasan, Suresh Bhagat, Rahil Mahajan, S N Saproo, Ranjodh Singh, Bharti Devi, Gurchan Singh and others.
Surinder Kumar BDC Chairman Marh and Nasir Ali SDM Marh paid tributes to the martyred CRPF jawans on third anniversary of ‘Pulwama Martyrs’ Day’ at Marh. The tribute paying ceremony was organized at the office of BDC Chairman Marh in which a number of Sarpanches, Panches along with the general public participated to pay tributes to the martyrs.
Hinduist BJP senior leader Raju Chandel while paying tribute to the martyrs at Martyrs’ Memorial said, “We have not forgotten the day when our 40 CRPF Jawans were martyred and today we want to salute those martyrs.” Rafiq Ali Sheikh, senior leader of BJP Kolkata Pradesh Yuva Morcha and Tafazzul Wani were also present.
NSUI J&K under the leadership of National Coordinator RTI, State general secretary Ajay Lakhotra paid rich tributes to Pulwama martyrs. Ajay Lakhotra said that the martyrdom of Pulwama is unforgettable and immortal while NSUI activist Tableen Boparai said that the Pulwama attack is black day in the history of India. Ankit Singh, Gulshan Singh, Arif Malik and Manjit also paid tributes to martyrs.
Dogra Brahmin Pratinidhi Sabha (DBPS) paid tributes to the Pulwama martyrs at Chanakya Chowk, Parade. The tribute ceremony was organized by Girish Sharma secretary of DBPS, Rajesh Bargotra (secretary), Reetiz Khajuria (youth president) and Arnav Khajuria (district youth president). Chander Mohan Sharma (senior BJP leader and president Tawi Aandolan) was the chief guest of Shardanji Samaroh. Paying tribute to the martyrs, Chander Mohan said the country was indebted to all these martyrs and would always remember their valor and sacrifice.
Kashmiri Pandit Sabha Jammu paid rich tributes to the CRPF brave hearts by lighting candles in their memory. K K Khosa, of the Sabha along with other members prayed for peace to their souls and appealed the UT Government and the Government of India to ensure the elimination of terrorists, their sympathizers and over ground workers to restore lasting peace in the Valley.
The Athletic Club Kathua in collaboration with Army Public School Janglote organized a 12-km Cross Country run to pay homage to martyrs of Pulwama attack. The run was flag off by Sandeep Kumar (Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kathua). The run started from Captain Sunil Choudhary Chowk and passed through Dream Land Park road, college road and Shaheedi Chowk.
Government Degree College Jourian organized an online poetry recitation competition to pay tribute to the martyrs in Pulwama attack. The competition was organized in collaboration with Activity/Cultural Committee of the College under the guidance and patronage of Prof Kuldeep Raj Sharma, Principal of the College.
Government Higher Secondary School Bhalra, Bhaderwah in collaboration with 2 J&K (I) Coy NCC Bhaderwah commemorated Pulwama Martyrs Day as Black Day at School premises. The event started with lighting of lamp in remembrance of the martyrs, followed by two minutes of silence in their respect. The event concluded with National Anthem and NCC Song sung by all the participants.
Tributes to the Pulwama martyrs were also paid at B V M High School Nainsu-Udhampur. The program was started with the lighting of lamp by the chief guest, Ram Murti (Retired Lecture) and guest of honour, Ranjan Kishore (Retired Headmaster).
Meanwhile, activists of VHP and Bajrangdal paid rich tribute to the martyrs of Pulwama attack. The youth gathered at main bazar Poonch and raised slogans for the martyrs.
Adressing the people Nishu Gupta said that three years have passed since the Pulwana terror attack but the thoughts about the incident still send shivers. On February 14, 2019, around 40 CRPF jawans lost their lives in the terror attack. The convoy was attacked by a suicide bomber in the Pulwama district.
Sorab Sudan added that the nation cannot forget the supreme sacrifice if the CRPF personals. He said that this day reminds us that for our better today somebody hava paid the price by giving up their lives. The speakers further added that the nation always stands in soliditary with the families of the soldiers.
